The main of this research was to verify disposal habits of users and the contribution of reverse logistics at post-consumer waste management of mobile equipment. The expansion of mobile sector in Brazil has grown the environmental impact through inappropriate waste of cell phones and its accessories. The Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente - CONAMA - published in 30th June, 2011 the resolution 257 that disciplines an appropriate environmental management through collection, reuse, recycling, treatment or last disposal. This study indicated that, although the majority of manufactures inform in their websites about appropriate disposal of batteries after consumption, orientation about cell phone and accessories waste disposal is not clear. One survey applied to university students revealed that the majority does not know appropriate locations for discard, stocks cell phones and wasted batteries at home within children’s reach, and received little information from the manufacturers. The results allowed to evaluate the impact of inappropriate mobile waste on environment and to indicate alternatives to reduce it as, for instance, more efficient direction from manufacturers and cell phone companies to the final customer.Downloads
